METHOD OF PREPARATION:

Step 1: Steep the Hibiscus

Start by steeping 1 tbsp of dried hibiscus flowers in about 2 tablespoons of hot water. Let them sit for 5–7 minutes until the water turns a deep pink or crimson hue.
Tip: You can also use 1 tsp of hibiscus powder directly in the rice if you prefer to skip the steeping step.

Once the color is rich, strain the petals and set the liquid aside.

Step 2: Saute the Aromatics

In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds (if using) and let them sizzle for a few seconds until fragrant.
